Special Consultative Status to the UN
In September 1998, IWDC received Special Consultative Status
to the Economic and Social Committees (ECOSOC) of the United
Nations. This designation is granted to NGOs that have a special
competence in the fields of activity covered by the ECOSOC
and allows IWDC to participate in all ECOSOC meetings. IWDC's
competence is women's political participation, leadership
and advocacy.
Since then, IWDC has facilitated workshops for women leaders
from 30 countries around the world focusing on how to advocate
for issues and how to manage campaigns. IWDC has also operated
programs such as CAMP and
UNYDP that have
led to the renewal of our Consultative statud for the past
15 years.
