Internships

IWDC regularly has the following internship positions available and resumes are considered on a rolling basis:

Events Intern IWDC seeks a student to assist with the planning of our annual events, including the fall fundraiser and the spring Congressional Reception for the presentation of the Global Democracy Award. Responsibilities include following up with invitees, designing the program, researching speakers and providing other logistical support. The intern must be available beginning in mid-August for the fall event.

Development Intern IWDC seeks an intern who will assist in increasing IWDC's visibility through the Combined Federal Campaign and the local United Way campaign as well as assist in fundraising efforts.  The Intern will research and represent IWDC at CFC events throughout the Washington, DC, area. The intern will also be responsible for researching and preparing grant applications to fund various IWDC programs. Strong writing skills with grant writing experience required.

Communications/Public Relations IWDC seeks an intern to assist us with getting IWDC's mission out to a broader audience.  This will include preparing program materials and brochures, publicizing IWDC events, and working to increase the visibility of IWDC on the Internet by writing press releases and media advisories as assigned; writing stories, articles, briefs or features for a variety of communication vehicles, both internal and external and pitch these stories to local media. Layout and marketing skills are helpful, this position is best suited for English, Journalism, and Communications majors. 

Internship hours are flexible to fit class schedules but we ask for a minimum 20-hour commitment per week and a 10 week minimum commitment. Internships are unpaid, but IWDC will work with the intern to ensure class credit.
